          | I'm over hauling my WD. In the gasket kit, there are two grey felt seals that I'm not sure where they go. I think they go in the Rear oil seal upper retainer and in the wide grove behind the rear oil seal in the rear main bearing cap. But there wasn't any seal in those places originally, just the felt seal in the narrow groves.  Also, the ring kit had the bent wire things. It looks like they go under the oil seal, but I tried putting them in and it won't work there. The rings go in nice without those pieces. I am reringing the original 4" pistons. | You,re right, Mark.   Those four "bent wire things" are part of the four piece oil control ring. They are a spring and go in the back of the ring groove to keep the ring seated against the cylinder wall.  It won't seat properly without it. |

          | The guys have the springs right. We used to call those "kickers" for oil rings. They go in first no matter what style oil rings you are using and yes they do make the rings compress harder, that is what they are supposed to do. |

          | Do you use old oil expanders if new set of rings do not have them, for a Ford 800 overhaul. There  wer none in new ring set or any info in the instructions about usiing any expander devices. |

          | If your ring set did not come with any. You don't need them. |
