I have recently got my hands on a allis chalmers forklift model fpl60 2ps dual lp... now the id plate was painted over but I managed to removed paint and get some info..it runs decent did an oil change (removed about 1 liter of oil OUCH).. I been looking for a shop manual for it but not having any luck :(

The guy I got it from had put a new battery in it but I slowly learn that the alternator is not charging, started looking into it and realize that someone at butchered the wiring lol... now im not a heavy equipment mechanic but I am a license auto mechanic..

If I were faced with such a situation, I'd cut back any wiring that was butchered beyond correction, and install an alternator in it, with whatever wiring necessary to make the battery charge... and then move on from there.

Oh... and put in another liter of oil or so...

Can you post some pictures of the engine? That may help us sort out what youv'e got there...

parts and manuals are getting scarce for those old girls ever since komatsu bought them out. if there is a local komatsu forklift dealer around they may be able to help
