Hi All,
I'm searching for information on an Allis Chalmers Pelican Gate, which controls the release of water from a large reservoir in central Iowa. Would anyone have any information on a gate of this type, or be able to direct me to a person who would? Any information would be extremely helpful.

Allis Chalmers is frequently looked upon as being an agricultural equipment company, but in reality, tractors were just a SMALL portion of their business. Figure that for ever tractor they ever made, they manufactured at least ten electrical transformers... probably just as many circuit breakers, and any part of fossil-steam and hydroelectric powerplant one could imagine. They had patents on a BUNCH of water-control gates, most of which are still operational at locations much larger than Coralville, Red Rock, and Rathbun... think more down the lines of TVA and Colorado River- the massive turbines, and valves that control them... there's a whole-lotta Allis badges there.
