Can someone tell me where and what serial/I.D. numbers I should be gathering to put in my ad to sell my 1964 HD11E dozer? I want to make sure I that I have as much information as possible. Also what close up (locations) pictures should I be taking that possible buyers would want to see of the machine (condition)?

Lastly, besides this forum, where would you suggest listing this machine for sale? I'm a pretty motivated seller as I would like to pursue another project this summer yet.

Thanks for any and all help.

Serial number should be listed on plate on dash, as well as stamped in the frame, RH side, below fuel tank.  Condition of undercarriage is probably the single biggest consideration when purchasing one of these machines. (ie: sprockets, track chain and roller condition)
Craigslist is probably king in the US, Kijiji is best way to advertise here in Canada, or local classifieds, as transportation is usually a major consideration for the buyer.  I've bought and sold several machines over the last few years, and increasingly the internet has been much better advertising than printed publications for me.

The dash serial number could be long gone - mine is painted over! However as Trevor mentioned, the serial is stamped on the rear of the machine, RH side, below the fuel tank. You may need to remove some add-ons to get to it. On my HD11, there are braces over that area for the canopy. I had to remove a few bolts and pull the canopy away from the rear of the machine to get the serial number.

Hard to offer ideas on advertising, since you don't have your location listed. Are there any local free places to list? Either print or on-line? If it's free, use it!

Some thoughts on what pictures to include: general photos (8-12 different angles from around the machine), operator's station (controls, seat, etc), closeups of undercarriage (pads, sprockets, chain, rollers), accessories (blade, winch, CCU, drawbar, ripper, etc), engine. Check out photos on Ritchie Brothers or Purplewave. They often have good photos showing everything about the machine.
