For the guys that know , what is the difference in transmissions between 7000 and 8000 series ? Where do they pull the auxilary power out of the 8000 series to run the front driveshaft ? Was this something that was cast into the 8000 series that the 7000 series never had ? I assume all of the earlier FWA on the 210/220 were hydraulic assist. The post in classified from acben20 got me to thinking. Surely with as many 7000's series that were built , somebody made a FWA.

Any 7010 thru 7080 that had an FWA was a Mud-Hog brand and it was hydraulic powered. There were none with a driveshaft. The driveshaft on an 8000 series came out of the rearend housing/range transmission, not the main transmission. Rearend case is totally different for an FWA over a 2WD.

220 FWA was mechanical I'm pretty sure.

The 70 series rear housing has a plug where the driveshaft comes out on the 8000 series FWA, so engineering was obviously planning ahead when they designed the housing.  The FWA rear housings had more machining done internally to accept the driveshaft, gears and clutch.
