Question: I just sold my I-40 Loader/Backhoe- I know it went to good use, very sad to see my first Allis go.

However I had used it for what I intended and too large to keep around.

Looking for advise on smaller tractor with loader and possible 3 point.

I have seen some Allis 5020 (however heard the engines are hard to find parts for)

Been looking on CL and saw - Case 648 loaders, Yanmar, etc.

I think I would prefer a little gas engine I am more familiar with those never had diesel engine so not sure on those. I know get more HP out of them but want to keep this a less expensive project.

I am looking for a project - I loved my I-40 project and it came out great.

Of course need to get one that needs work for low cost.

Any suggestions on makes. models...

I have an 1966 Sears Suburban tractor would love to find a little loader for it.

I just need one to move top soil and mulch around the yard now- nothing large or heavy to move.

Whatever you look at be sure it has power steering ! My #1 D-14 had a loader on it and was a BEAR to turn! #3 D-14 has a loader(#140) though I've never used it yet..

There's a D-14 locally for $3000 with loader (power dump as well as up/down) that has power steering.....

Jay has an excellant point.
My Dad's does have power steering.
I drove my Dad's tractor for the first time yesterday to check out the new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing.
It's a pretty cool machine. Dad loved this old tractor -- I guess because he could work on it and fix anything. (probably couldn't do that with a new Kubota)
Dad did mechanic work his entire life. Me --- not so much.
