Just got my grandfathers 37 allis b going. Thing seems to be running great. However ,in third and kinda lower throttle it makes a intermittent click, sometimes will sputtered and shoot a spark of two out the exhaust. Any ideas?? Thanks, matt

Hmmm... I would check valve lash adjustment first, see if if mebbie an exhaust valve is getting insufficient lash. For engines that have been 'asleep' for a while, I generally set the lash a big on the loose side for a few running hours, just to increase the likelyhood that it'll work the stem/guide for an earlier closing 'till everything's back in fresh lube and buffed-in again... then I set it back to spec.

interesting.. there was one stuck valve and a bent push rod on that valve as well.. freed up with pb blaster. and i may have over tightened the adjustment on the valve. plus i even tightened the intake and exaust on the number 4. felt too loose , but i can re adjust and see if that helps. its weird thing runs like a top and then acts up in third....i never touched the timiing and was wondering if acelarating or retarding it would help.. perhaps just going down the wrong path... i'll try the valves first . thanks
