Restoring a 48 G back together almost ready for paint, can't get any fire to the plugs. New coil in, new condenser. Coil states no resistor needed. (it's internal) Does the positive side of the coil go to the condenser???

If the battery is installed positive ground then dist side of coil has to be positive also.

I had a similar problem after I rebuilt my G. Got rid of the new AC plugs and installed used Champions and it started right up. LOL Bob

I believe the coils that have a coil that has a resistor in it is met to be used with a 12 volt system.

The G came with a 6 volt system.

Where in MIchigan are you ?

I have a coil I bought, I asked for a 12 volt one and was told that it was for 12 volts. When I opened the box there was a note with it stating it needed a ballast resistor with it. So it is a 6 volt coil.

It's not practical to take it back, and I don't need it.

I was hoping you were closer to me. I'm between Charlotte and Grand Ledge.

The G came with a 6 volt electrical system. I'm going assume that it still is 6 volt.

Check to see if you have 6 volt going to the coil.

Also it sounds like your coil is made for a 12 volt system, 6 volt systems do NOT have or use a resistor.
