I am in process of putting a freshly rebuilt motor in my C I did use plenty of pre-lube on all of the wear surfaces. One of my questions is how do you oil prime the motor? When I rebuilt my ford 302's I could use a drill on the oil pump and prime it. I don't see how this would be possible with the C.

Also there was a post on here a bit ago where someone said their oil pump lost prime. Could someone please explain how you re-prime a oil pump?

And lastly for now... I have two C's one is a parts tractor. I didn't notice it but the manifolds are different the top one is off the one that's getting rebuilt and the bottom is off the parts tractor. Why are they different?

Thanks Steve

Steve, the top one is off a "Low Octane" engine.  The bottom one is from a gasoline only engine.  The square box on the upper one is to pre-heat the fuel.  It should have a heat shield to go with it.    If you are burning regular gas, either should work well.  Does your c have extra holes in the hood that look like they would hold a small auxillary fuel tank, about the size of a lawn mower tank?

To prime the oil pump, take the oil line here it comes out and goes to the filter. Use a good squirt oil can and pump it full of oil. do this just before starting the engine. If you don't get oil pressure within a few seconds do it again. When you hea it apart did you check the pickup tube. its just a piece of pipe and won't take alot of manhandleing when working on the tractor. A crack in the pickup will mean it'll never hold a prime. Make sure the stand tube is installed in the filter housing or you'll never get oil pressure. The pump is driven off the back of the cam with a drive pin. chack the pin while its apart. a worn pin will break at the worst time. and then you wind up splitting the tractor again to fix it. good luck.

There are no extra holes in the hood,

Thanks for the explanation on priming the oil pump, yes I did check, clean the pick-up tube and screen. However I did not check the pin. and the motor's in.....darnit

Thanks Steve

The top manifold is the standard early B manifold with all of the tune-up spec's on the plate. The lower one is the current replacement manifold the is used on all B, C, & CA tractors. The 2 bolt holes are used to attach the tall muffler. LOL Bob
