I thought I posted pictures of this before, but I can't find the thread.

I've been driving past this tractor for at least a year to a year & a half. As far as I can tell it hasn't moved. A couple days ago, I found out that the owner of it is the son of a guy that I used to work with. The guy I used to work with said that it is a 1936 A/C and it's for sale. (I think it's a WC....correct me if I'm wrong) They replaced the manifold.  The carb leaks a little & the rear rims are pretty "rotted", but it runs & drives.
The price is $400
After my purchase last weekend, my tractor budget is almost shot, but I'm considering bringing this one home too. My wife will probably shoot me if I do!

If the rear tires are as good as the pics show, there worth the money alone. Just slip on the Kevlar vest and hope she is a poor shot !

I see a pre '38 hand-start Allis WC with mechanical lift feature, and a hood that appears to have been for a dual-fuel (gasoline/tractor fuel) starting tank.

If it starts, runs, and drives at $400, you'd be foolish NOT to jump on it.

If she shoots at you, tell her you're selling it to me for $500... and I'll be picking it up on my next trip through New York!

Al,

Is it your tractor budget, or hers?

Go get the tractor.

Dave might be on to something here. We each could be assigned an "buyer" from some distance away that will be buying the tractor at a profit when he gets to the area. Guy just doesn't show up, golly we can't help that.

just tell her it's a anniversery presant for her...I use the excuse, it's for the boy, so he can learn to work on things. like mentioned above, if the tires are as good as they look $400 is a steal, even if they ain't the parts on that tractor alone are well worth that, you could get that just in scrap.

Bring it home -- I have used the "gotta jump on opportunities when they come up in life"
excuse --- worked sometimes better than others -- LOL.

First wife is gone. Second wife is gone. Tractors n' hotrods are still here. Go buy that Tractor dude. As dt1050 said, if the tires look as good as they do in the pics, there's your $400 buck investment alone....Flat tank WC's are cool!  CoolThumbs Up
