is it possible for hyd oil to transfer from rear-end to power-shift section?
dipstick in cab is over full and i don't remember adding any to it for a long time.
i have put a little in rear-end recently but i always have to occasionally, from hoses leaking and whatnot. this is on a 7060 black belly   thanks

Yes, there are several places for it to transfer. Most likely place is hyd. pumps.   MACK

Yep, dad worked on one about a year ago with the same problem, it ended up being one of the pumps.

On our 7060 marroon belly pd it transfers oil between. Mechanic says its the seal between the rear end and tranny. Haven't got around to fixing it yet.

Just out of curiosity what does it hurt to have the transmission a little over full? It says on the dipstick "DO NOT OVERFILL"

Had same thing on PD maroon belly, 7060 and 7040.  Like above, usually in pumps but could be seals between compartments.  We were always told that overfilling could cause seals to start leaking.

I was always told overfilling didn't allow heat to disperse through the casting or something like that.

Overfilling of the transmission causes heating because the clutch housing starts dragging in the oil level that's too high.
