I have an 4-18ac 2000 plow,now its a 3 bottom.Shoupes has the blades but there 16 inch instead of 18.Will these work or not.the bolt patterns are the same.Im not sure if they will work.Does anyone know where i could get the 387-18 blades and the shins.I will call agco tomorrow if i have to.that will cost dearly i bet.

16 in shares will work in most condictions. Sod is a different story. When I worked for AC dealer most customers used 16 in on 18 in bottoms.

Old timer what happens in sod using the 16inch instead of 18inch.would it not be a3-16 instead of 3-18 plow with the shorter shares .thanks john

16in or 18in is the actual width that is being turned over. Your plow main frame is preset for this width. When plowing with 16in shares on an 18in frame in sod you may have an area about 2in wide on the side that will look rough or as we called it, hairy because it tends to tear in this area where there is not any share to cut cleanly.

Under some conditions narrow shares work better than full width due to the fact that the 2" of uncut sod acts like a hinge and the unattached portion is forced to flip over rather than just move sideways. Many old plow manuals refer to special "narrow cut" shares for this purpose.

My plow bottoms book often shows narrow and wide shares for the same bottom width.
On my 392 bottom the last hole in the share does not connect to the frog, it connects to a strap that is bolted to the moldboard. That strap would not be hard to make in a different length. Its just plain steel, probably less than 1/4" thick. I think lots of AC plow bottoms did that.

Thanks for the replys i am going to order some from shoup in kankakee il.I will put some pictures up when im done i just got done sandblasting the plow .The hydraulic hoses are bad along with the landslides,shins,and shares.Oh well at least it should plow easier when im done.It was a 3 bootom with a extension bottom,i took it off so my 17iv will pull it ,at least i hope it will in some sod.Thanks again,John
