Putting brakes on my B today and realize there must be a proper order to put things together. No problem with getting the brake  band around the drum. Problem is with the brake spring. Any hints?

Take old screwdriver  and make a small notch in it   Hook top of spring first then push spring with screwdriver  from top and inside  near brake band, hook in hole .

Great idea, I wish I had heard that idea sooner... I think I gained quite a few gray hairs trying to hook them on my CA with needlenosed pliers.  You might also consider tying a string around the spring in case you drop it into the final drive.  I did that and it saved me alot of aggrevation, as I dropped the spring several times.

wfmurray, thanks for the tip, spring is on and I can do the other side tomorrow. Need to pull the wheel on the left side to get the pins in and I wanted to make the right side a trial run. Yes, different rims.

I use the same stiff wire that I pulled the brake band with. Just double it and push it into the hole where the spring hooks to the housing and pull it down. Makes it an easy job. Bob
