Hi, we have a 1988 Gleaner R60, and we are trying to get started on picking on oats. When the oats come into the throat of the machine, they just go through the machine, and back out where they came in. Nothing makes it into the tank, and nothing comes out of the back. We think everything is set correct, but have run out of ideas. Thoughts?

Well, I am no R60 expert, but if the shaft and head come out the exact same as they went in, sounds like the rotor clearance is set for corn or something else, and not small grain. actually on anther thought, when you say nothing comes out the back, are you saying no straw, no grain, no anything? | Rotor in "high" gear.....rotor speed set at 800-850.......feederhouse chain speed set on fast(large) pulley....concave set at "6" or 1/2" clearance or a little less....these are all starting points. |

| keepy. i dont know what is wrong with your combine. i do know you dont pick oates. it is either cut, combined or thrashed. picking is for corn or noses !....just saying. |

| sounds like the rotor is neutral to me as well, might check the front feed chain drum hieght as well. Andy |

| Currently we are running the rotor at 490, concave at corn setting, and that appears to be the only way we can get anything to come out. the cleaning fan is set on 4. The oats are dry, but the stems are tough. The head is a AC 320, 20 foot flex-head - does anyone know if this head can be locked solid? |

| Flex cutterbar can be raised up flat and bolted (with a u-shaped strap) with a strap that comes with the head and is sometimes stored on each parallel arm. Look in your owners manual. Keep on running it at less than 500 rpm and concave at 3/4" to 1" open and you'll have the rotor plugged tight. |

I have changed the right side feeder house pulley for small grain. When I shift the rotor to high I do not have any read out of rotor speed. Any oats that goes in under the front drum gets to the top of the rear chain and comes back out on top of the front drum. When I shifted it back to lo speed I know what the rotor is running and if I take my time I can put some oats in the tank. I have run this machine in corn only for three years. Also not real sure on correct way to set concave. The book that came with the machine is for the next serial number range. Any ideas? Thank you |

| When you shift it to "HIGH" you have to rock the big rotor drive belt back and forth to get it to shift into high gear. The concave adjustment is a ratchet handle near where you change the rotor gearbox.....what year is the machine?? you need to get a correct owners manual book. |
