I have a late 1938 B with just a v-belt pulley and would like hydraulics. Were they available on the late 38 B's? I have a pump from a C that I would like on the B.

First, thanks for keeping my favorite Allis Chalmers Tractor alive. Allis Chalmers Hydraulics were available on every B. You would need a PTO with an opening for a pump and your C pump should fit there. You would need B-C rams that should be available. A rocker shaft fits behind the seat and provides a lift arrangement for B implements. If you B never had hydraulics you probably have heavy transmission oil in the transmission. That will have to be flushed and replaced with transaxle oil for the hyd system. Think what implements you want to use hydraulics for. Perhaps someone can show some pictures that could help. Or perhaps a manual will be of assistance. Also, since you have a 38 B you may want to check on the seat frame to see if you have mounting dowels for the rams. Quite a bit to do but it is dooable. Take good care of my favorite. Good Luck! Bill Long

Thanks bill, my toy low B will now become a working narrow front B.

Chuck- before you pull that low-rider apart, take some good pictures of how you did the rear axle rotation, and the straight front axle... I have a B which I'd like to lower for tree clearance...
