Is the New holland 273 baler a good baler?

It was a high-capacity baler for it's time, so whoever bought it likely made lots of bales with it, unless they had money to waste buying more machine than they needed.  Could be a gem or could be worn out.  They are good in that most everything that wears can be renewed/replaced.

YES .. New Holland equipment , especially hay equipment have always been trend setters . ON  a 273 , nothing couldnt be fixed , just depends how  much you wana spend ...

We had a 273 when I was growing up. We baled tens of thousands of bales with it. New Holland balers are tried and true. However, it does depend on how it has been cared for. Nothing in this world is worse for any type of baler is to set out in the weather. Dad had that 273 for 20 years or so before upgrading to a 565 for more capacity. Still a top notch baler when he sold it.

Still alot of them around here, some with bale accumulators on the back.

Yeah that's why I asked, alot of them sitting around here for 1500-2000$, that have ready to bale on them. I am also looking at AC balers, Orange has one I may try to locate.
