Let me begin by saying that I live on about 1/2 acre in a city of 250,000 so I don't have a NEED for a tractor, especially one that will work a field. That being said, I wanted to relive my youth so I bought a CA, which is what we had growing up. When I bought it, it was missing the drawbar. (Again, wasn't planning on using the tractor other than shows & parades, so it wasn't a big deal). But the longer I have it, the stronger my desire to have it "right". Let me be up front in saying that I have no idea what I need. I've looked through my manuals at the drawbar set-up, but I think I'm missing whatever the drawbar hooks to at the front. The picture in the manual isn't clear on the attachment to the tractor. I've attached a picture, so hopefully that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The CA had two types of drawbars.  One that was used with the pin hitch and one that was used with the snap coupler hitch.  It appears you may be missing the front part of the hitch.  A picture showing the tractor from the front view will probably confirm what is missing.
Could you supply a picture from the front of the tractor showing the linkage arrangement under the transmission housing so we can properly determine what - if anything - is missing.
In the CA you have a neat tractor.  The second best plowing tractor I sold.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. I noticed in the manual that the snap coupler came out in '54. Mine is a '52. Here is a picture from the front. Not sure if it's helpful. The tractor is actually at a show for the weekend. If I need to get another pic from underneath I can. Thanks again!

That shows exactly what I suspected.  The linkage for the pin type - traction booster hitch - is missing.  I cannot understand why it was removed.  This linkage or hitch is the point the drawbar, plow, and other implements is attached to.  It also provides through a spring loaded hitch and linkage to the hyd the traction booster system.
Perhaps one who has a CA can provide a similar view so you can see what is missing on your unit.
Are there any other parts or linkages around?  It may have been removed and stored nearby.
Nice clean looking unit.
Good Luck!

VERY helpful, Bill! Thank you! I got the tractor on a farm consignment auction last summer. I was drawn to the shiny new paint and soon realized it had a few issues. Not being mechanically inclined, I took it to my father-in-law who was an IH mechanic for 46 years. He addressed several issues and it's up and running much better. Now I need to address a few of the other issues. I've already had another forum member message me and let me know he may have parts for sale, which is great! Thanks again!

first picture is back end. lift arms drop straight down and rams pin inplace.a cross bar pins between the arms to support the back of drawbar.
front looks like this part hanging down behind the woods bracket. The loader brackets get in the way to get a very good picture.

You can put a u-shaped hitch from a C on a CA. Not totally correct but much better than what you got.

I was in the same boat as you. I got parts from sandy lake implement pretty reasonable.

I agree with Nathan.

If you simply want a Drawbar you could instal one from a Model 'C'.

Probably a lot easier to come by.  See picture attached.
