Anyone have experience using A&I replacement spindles on 7-8000 series? Mine are the worst at the top bushing which could be welded and turned and the bottom is about .030 short on the wear side. I'll have to talk to my machine shop guy and see what he thinks. AGCO is outa sight but I figured A&I was Chinese and they cant build to tolerance. Opinions please.

.030" short??? you mean in height?? just use two thrust washers and don't drive the arm back on quite as far on top.....probably had room between the snap ring and the arm anyway, right??

No I mean short on dia and scored pretty good.Worn off on one side in other words.(like they do).Yah got room for washers.Even got new for that but might not have needed to. The driving off deal does work! Top bushings barely have any material left on the inside of bore but not to the housing yet.Bottom bushings aren't that bad but I'll replace anyway. Got theses bushings about this time last year(AGCO) and one of the bottom ones is WRONG.Had right pt# on tag but it's too small dia and simple split bushing with no interlock at seam. WTF!!

I have welded the tops and turned them down. The bottoms don't wear like the top. Bottom should be ok.

A&I spindels are junk and I have heard AGCO spindels are A&I. MACK

When I replaced the ones on my 7060 I used A&I bushings and 2 thrust washers per side on the bottom. I put the pitman arm about half way between the snap ring and top of housing which left about 1/8" to 3/16" between. Not sure if thats right but thats what I did. How would you go about rebuilding it after it eats into the housing?

You would either bore and sleeve or replace housing.

From what I've seen the 7050's didn't have a lip in the housing to keep the top bushing from falling down the spindle. Thats what happened to mine which made it wear on the housing. I called the salvage yard and they said they weren't going to sell me one ,because any they have would probably be wore out..? Didn't figure a machine shop could build it up. Sorry for stealing your thread.

FYI --- I had the thrust washers replaced on my 7080 when the spindles were replaced. I also had play on my sc blade between the snap ring and the front plate the the big shaft goes through. The old trust washers fit perfect on the shaft and found new life on my sc blade.
