I know this has probably been answered many times before but never paid attention until now. Looking at buying new tires for my wd45. Tractor is used very little since I live in town and only use it to pull a spreader several times a year. Also may be used in a parade. What size of tire do I need to put on 11.2x28 or 13.6x28. Pice difference is $150, thus I would really like to go with the 11.2. |

| It is your tractor pick what tires you want to run, but remember to go with a quality tire. That said I run 14.9s on mine. |

11.2 x 28 are going to be way too small for a WD45. that tractor is supposed to have 14.9-28 tires on it. ------------- Unless your are the lead horse the scenery never changes!! |

I've got 13.6 on my WD45. They are still big enough to look good but I would not go any smaller. I would have also wanted 14.9's on mine but it already had new 13.6 tires installed so it would be hard at this point to pull the trigger just to get the 14.9's. ------------- 1957 WD45 dad's first AC 1968 one-seventy 1956 F40 Ferguson |

I put 14.9s on my 45 and they work well, look good. I've got 13.6 on the WC and also on the WD. These sizes could be ordered from the dealer on your new tractor, but I believe they are all one size over "stock". I've put 16.9 on both D-17's and they look good too. Stock for an unstyled WC is 14.9 x 24, styled WC was 12.4 x 28. WD was 13.6 x 28. WD45 14.9 x 28. D17 16.9 x 28. | The width of your rims have a factor in this. 13.6 tires work well on 12" rims. they also look good on the 45. 14.9 would be an improvement to the wd-45. Check the width of the rim, then check see what your options are. Gd luck! |

| contrary to many above, the WD45 came new with 12- 28 old size, now 13.6 x 28 From the factory. It did NOT come out with 14.9 x 28 as we call them now. The old 14 x 28 is not the same as the 14.9 -28 we have now. Those would be more like the 16.9 x 28 like we currently are familiar with. A current 13.6x 28 is the closest thing to stock you can get now. Yes, 14.9's look pretty good, but they also will get into the fender if set in all the way and things go slightly wrong, just as many 45's will show a crinkled hind end on the fenders. The WD callled for 11-28 originals now 12.4x 28. |

Early 45's (like 1953's) might have had 12 in rims and 12-28's, now called 13.6-28. Later WD-45's had 13 inch rims from factory and 13-28's, now called 14.9-28. Nebraska test shows 14.9x28 as standard. AC operators manual shows 13.6x28 as standard and 14.9x28 as option. I see where sites like tractor data.com and a couple of the sties that list Nebraska results do indeed show a old size of 13-28
I stand corrected.
My 56 does have the 12-28 tires and I am 100% sure they are the originals. Hard to say when it all switched around. Sorry Guys!!!

| Ok, I know this thread is ancient but it prevents me from re hashing a lot of info. I just bought a WD45 single front wheel and it has 13.6 by 28 on the back. They are usable but will replaced once I completely overhaul the tractor. Can 14.9 by 28 tires be put on the rims I have for a 13.6 by 28 or is it too big? |

Yes they can be put 14.9's on your rims. | I have original owners manual in my hand for 1954WD45 and have the tractor too. Manual lists 11x28 and 12x28 for rear tires. And optional 9x38.... Didn"t know that. LOL. Having said that I now have 14.9x28 Firestones on it. Good size but as someone said you cannot bring the wheels all the way in. Mine are on 13" rims. Originals were 12". They were corroded pretty good from calcium. |

| The 13 x 28 rear tire (same as 14.9 x 28) was an OPTION on later model WD-45's and not even offered on early 1953 and 1954 models. I have a piece of advertising literature dated March of 1955 and the standard rear tire was 12 x 28 (same as 13.6 x 28) and option was 13 x 28 (same as 14.9 x 28) and both were on the SAME 12 inch wide rim. This piece of literature was introducing the new WD-45 diesel model and was also showing the tractor as 4-bottom plow capable. |

| The one I bought is a 1956 model with a single front wheel. It has 13.6 by 28 but only one of the spin out rims is on the tractor. I found the other in the weeds beside the tractor. |
