Just ordered a Wishbone Category I 3 pt pin hitch for my CA. Now I am looking to buy a new brush hog mower. I will be using a slip clutch and over running PTO. The question is, can a CA properly handle a 5ft mower, or should I go for the 4ft? I am leaning towards the 4ft due to the thick brush and not wanting to tax the motor, but a 5ft would be nice. |

i would go 5'. i have a 6' behind a c and i think its a little much when i get into really tall thick grass so when i do i use the wd45, i would only be worried about how heavy the mower is it. might have to add weight to keep the front down.i've been using this style and like it alot. ------------- 8050 FWA, 190XT, 185, Styled wc, Unstyled wc, (2)C, (2)WD45NF, WD45WF, WD,416h, 716h, 312h, 8070 pedal. |

I just bought a 5 foot Woods for my CA and it handles it pretty good. I would not go narrower.

I'd go with a 5 foot model...it will cover the width of the tractor and your actual cutting area will be about 4' (after the first round) if you overlap the cut to clean up what the rear tire flattened on the previous pass. I see a lot of fields where operators try to cut the full width of the machine, and a day later there are rows where the grass has stood back up. If you mow with a little overlap you will have a much nicer looking field when you are done. ------------- ALLIS EXPRESS! This year: |

I wouldn't think that u would be able to lift a 3point brush hog with that small of a tractor. I guess that would depend on how heavy the mower was and whether u need to put more weight up front or not. ------------- Can't fix stupid |

Thank you everyone for the input.
Sounds like getting the five footer is the way to go. I am not planning to lift the deck, but I am putting front wheel weights on my shopping list though. I should be picking up the 5ft next week. |

| I use a 5 foot on my C but the CA has better hydraulics and can lift a lot more than a C. With my wheels all the way in the 5 footer is a real good fit and edges pretty good too but it does get a little loose on the front end. T.J. |

I have a 5' snap coupler mower that I have run with my CA. You will want some extra weight on the front with a mounted mower.
