Those two presicion pressed pully halves are very tight fit. How/if/what should they be painted? Currently there is no paint, but maybe it was removed in previous

paint job. I think any paint build up would prevent them from re-assembly.

Perhaps a grease or anti-sieze compound?

I remember a mechanic heaping foul words upon a International tractor's adjustable

fan pully. "Dam metric threaded, rusted up, British made hunk of crap" A lot more F-bombs were launched, but I couldn't do it justice. 35 years later when I see a red tractor, this is what I think of.

Those can be aggravating little rascals. I have one that I smeared a little antiseize on before I put it together. I think if you were wanting to paint everything up nice, you could go with the copper antiseize and wipe off everything on the outside that would be painted. You might still have to break up a little paint if you ever had to adjust it any, but it wouldnt be that hard to touch up. I usually just adjust it in to the point that it gives the belt a little room to wear without touching the flat at the bottom, then find a belt that I have to almost stretch to get on with the genny adjusted all the way in. Then you have some adjustment without messing with the fan pulley. I'd change the belt out before I messed with that fan pulley too much.
