1948 C 8" rim with the eccentric clamps (9.5 x 24 tires). The wheel is rotten thru at the valve stem. I can see the tube. A local guy fixes rims all the time. Bring it over he said.

OK, but I wanted to take the center disk out, can't weld on it assembled.

 

I need help. I assumed this would be relativly easy.

I thought I just had loosen the nuts on back side (that went ok) rotate the eccentric bolts (2) 180 degrees to take  the pressure off. They are really stuck, will not rotate.

I oxy torched heated the bolts, clamp and local area of wheel disk. Didn't want to melt the rubber,so maybe I didn't get it as hot as I normally would.

I am using a 18" breaker, and I am not a lightweight. Also tried a 500ft-lbs inpact gun.

So then I attack from the other side, hammering on the end of the backed off nuts.

None of them budge, the simple bolts or the eccentric bolts. 2lb hammer!

I had been putting penetrating oil on these since last fall.

I see that new clamps and bolts (including the eccentric) are available,

so I am ok if I break something (as long as it is not the wheel disk!).

 

These rims are originals. The rolled (convex) bead that the clamps nestle on are

full cirmumference of the rim, except the valve stem area is flat locally.

Are the replacement rims like this?  The pictures on the net "lack contrast".

Like white on rice, I can't see.  But I suspect the bead may only be raised locally at each quadrant for the clamps.

 

I have limited time, doing this for the family, then have to fly away.
