I'm still looking for a small backup loader tractor..lots of junk out there...to use around the barns. Today I came across a 1999, Agco-Allis 5660 4wd, with 320 hours on it. The asking price is 15K, a somewhat reasonable starting price... but for essentially a new tractor with loader that aint bad. However, my AGCO dealer was somewhat non-committal regarding parts for these tractors. Any one out there in Allis land ever run across these tractors? Are they any good... transmissions, clutches, brakes, etc.. are parts getting to be a problem? I have done some research, but other than the engine, which was built by S-L-H, (now Same Deutz-Fahr??) ... who built the rest of the tractor. ... looks like a Same though. Thanks for the assist.

We have a 5670 FWA. My grandpa bought it new in 94' They have some good and bad points. Ergonomically, in my opinion, they are uncomfortable and loud...just overall not very well thought out. However, we have put around 2000 hours on it with no issues with the drive train. We currently are having some hydraulic valve issues, but believe it to be a relief valve stuck. In any case, our dealer has never had any difficulty with parts for the tractor. The tractor is very economical. You are correct about the tractor it is essentially a Same. The price sounds in line with those kind of hours. I believe we gave around 23,000 for ours in 94. You can PM me is you need anymore info.

SLH = Same, Lamborghini, & Hurlimann, now known as Same/Deutz Fahr in the US. Parts should not be a problem. I have also noticed that these tractors seem a little "clunky" to run, although my experience was limited to driving one around the dealer's yard one time. For the money though, it will probably do a lot of work for you.

We sold a bunch of these tractors, parts are still readily available. Weakest point we have found is shift forks on loader tractors, i think biggest problem is operator. Let me know if you have anymore questions

We have about 6000hrs on ours. A Quickie loader, FWA of course. We are about to put a pinion in the front diff as the splines wore off it at the drive coupler to the drive shaft. We have had to replace one front final drive but the tractor was in a road collision on that wheel about a year before and I am suspicious was damaged then but not found. Broke a pto clutch disc center out at about 2000 hrs but no trouble with the replacement one. They are very awkward to operate all the controls and they are noisy. 4 speed transmission with 3 ranges and a forward, reverse, neutral lever. All synchronized I believe, as I have not been into that part of the tractor...yet. Great 3 cylinder engine, starts good and good power. I did have my injectors replaced at about 4500 hrs and it made a big difference.

My brother had a 6690 which is essentially a bigger row crop version of them. I think their great little tractors, built heavy and efficient. I've always loved air cooled diesels and it'll be air cooled.

My brothers had about three levers to shift. One for Hi-Lo-Med-Neutral, one for gear 1-4, (I believe), and one for forward and reverse. The forward reverse was synchronized and handy. I'm not sure if the 5660 has that or not.
