Hello Hombres:  Did the 17  Series IV starter have shims between the starter flange and the bell housing as original equipment?  Having  a problem rolling the flywheel over with what appears to be a replacement starter.   Starter was on the tractor when I bought it.  Starter does not seems to what to engage.  So am thinking there is an alignment issue.

Thanks in Advance-Orangeman

I have never seen that on any tractor. Have you pulled the starter and inspected the ring gear on the flywheel and the gear on the starter? Think I would make sure I had the correct starter for the tractor but also make sure that ring gear is okay or you'll just keep replacing starters and having problems.
