Update on my boy, saw the doctor today for test results. Looks like Micheal was exposed to a virus. NO CANCER. He will take a course of 10 days of antibiotic. Will have an ultrasound in a couple months. Looks like we have another Allis/Gleaner man with us for a while, hopefully a lot longer than Im around. Pretty tense couple of weeks, but we are alright now. Thanks Trev.

Before he starts the antibiotics, find out what it is! My son was just diagnosed with "cytomegalo virus". Took them 4 weeks of test and everything to finally figure it out. They thought that he had cancer too. Did an MRI and LOTS of blood tests. A SMART lady doc FINALLY figured it out. She said NO drugs, he has to let his body fight it. He has lost a bunch of weight and has NO strength at all. Can't even lift his year old daughter. Can't walk more than 30 feet and is dead tired. Sound like what your son has? Anyway this doc says he has to work through it himself. Takes 6 to 8 weeks. Kids get it and it is just like getting the flu. Sick for a couple of days. Adults it can kill and really wipes you out. I'm hoping this is not what he has? Hope this is good news! Prayers from WI. Ted

Sometimes the doctors bring out the worst ideas first then find it isn't as bad as they thought. It can devastate people thinking they have a disease that can be fatal or life changing. Glad it turned out good and the prayers have worked. Neighbor was told she had MS or symptoms of it , ended up being a virus also that sapped her for several weeks. Then brother was told his prostrate cancer was under control only to succumb to bone cancer 6 months later.

I am not smart enough to remember what the doc said the virus is. He is a pediatric nephrologist, pretty rare in these parts. Micheal has not been sick, he is just not a sick kid. He says he gets tired sometimes. I have the WD, a 46 chevy 2 ton grain truck I just finished, an 88 gmc four door dually I just finished restoring, a 49 gmc 3/4 ton to maintain, colorado truck, montana van, a motorcycle, 3 kids, a 2 year old grandchild that lives with us, an 81 year old Dad I watch over, and my practice, and my wife, and a house, I started farming again this year, I do roofing/siding on the weekends, etc, etc. I AM EXHAUSTED ALL THE TIME...So if he gets a little tired sometimes it seems to me that is normal. Extensive testing was done on Micheal, the dose of the antibiotic is not very strong. As mentioned, I think they tell you the worst and hope for the best. It was a pretty heavy couple of weeks though, and I do truly appreciate all the prayers to whoever or whatever youre god is, coming from Allis people just makes it more powerful i think...Thank you with great gratitude, Trev.

Antibiotics only work on bacterial infections, not viruses. They would really be a waste of money unless Dr. specifically says he has secondary bacterial infection due to his weakened system from fighting off virus(very possible).
