Wondering what the difference is from maroon to black belly 7000. Is it purely cosmetic or more substantial? Where the blacks still a 4 box and 3 speed powershift? Thanks in advance, Trev.

I used to have this where I could almost restate it in my sleep, but it's been a while, so I may forget a couple things:

1) Clutch is in the low range of the powershift clutch pack (wet clutch) in the black belly vs the dry clutch in the maroon belly
2) Acusta 2 cab on the black belly 
3) Optional HD (8 lug) front axle like the rest of the 7000 series
4) Slight change in transmission cooler/condenser sizes
5) Shifter is in console on black belly vs floor shift for maroon
6) Cab/platform steps on the black belly are much easier to get on
7) Black belly will have a solid input shaft, where the maroon has the hollow outer for the PTO 
8)Transmission brake on the black belly has a stronger spring to compensate for the extra drag of the wet clutch
9) The PTO clutch valve is a separate valve on the black belly, where it is built into the valve body on the maroon belly (black belly uses that spot on the valve body for the inching spool for the wet clutch).

That's about all I can come up with off the top of my head right now.  It should at least be a good start.

Hurst, was the hyd pump moved or was that the 7010 before that hapened? Scott

All 7000s have the engine mounted gear hydraulic pump.  The 7010 got the closed center system with the pump in the rear end.

Very minor detail, but someone (probably Dr. Allis) said on here once that the black bellies (acousta cab II's) had a smaller steering wheel, thus a little easier entry. Darrel

Good information Hurst, but the HD front axle was also available on the maroon tractors, I've seen two of them.

If you're talking about maroon belly 7000 series (7030,40,50,60, and 80), those came standard with the 8-lug axle.  The maroon belly 7000 was only available with the 6-lug axle.  The black belly 7000 came standard with the 6-lug axle and could be ordered with the optional 8 lug axle like the rest of the 7000 series had.  An early maroon 7000 could have been fitted with an 8 lug axle by swapping one off of a black belly 7000.  I don't know if you can swap it from a 7010 and up, as I am pretty sure the bolsters are different between the HD 7000 front end and the 7000 series 8 lug front end.  Additionally, don't think the 8 lug axle would mount to a 6 lug 7000 bolster, but I could be wrong.  The only way a maroon 7000 got an 8 lug front end is if someone modified it, it wouldn't have come from the factory like that according to what I have seen/read over the years.

Hurst, yes I was talking about only 7000,s. Now that I think about it, I've actually seen 3 of these over the years. They were all maroon color,(the axles) didn't appear to have been changed from a black belly, but I suppose anything is possible.
