| Never seen a down discharge exhaust on a D10/12. Is that the route they took as a factory option? Seems awful close to the sedimant bowl/fuel tank, but I guess thousands of Fords with the tank atop the engine never hurt anything . . . . . |

| Muffler pipe looks like a replacement, see the heat stain on the hood? Mine comes out at a 45 degree angle, right at the edge of the hood. Looks like mine, when I bought it. If it's not top secret, what didja pay for it? |

| there was a factory underhood muffler offered for these 10 and 12s and this looks like it could be one, if I could see it better I could tell you, I have a nos underhood muffler for the 10s and 12s but it is for a series 1 or 2 as it has the round cover to bolt over the hole in the hood , but the muffler would be the same , it is a nelson but I dont remember the #, and by the way that is a nice tractor |

| There is also a d-14 underhood muffler that is pretty close to fitting on a 10 or 12. I wish I had the hood cover, when it rains or snows, the underhood muffler has no baffle, to shed water, and the water will end up in the manifold! |

Hello, I replaced the original muffler with the
Nelson under hood muffler option, do not have the correct block off
plates for the hood. Here is a pic from pp44 of the Series III parts
catalog. The tail pipe is longer than the original. I placed a 4x4 piece
of ceramic tile behind the pipe to deflect the heat. ------------- D10 Series III, fully optioned |

If I recall the D-10 Series III had a live PTO, better Hyd System - live - and more power since it had a D-14 engine. Almost wish I was around to be selling them. We left in '62 and only sold the Series I D-10' Nice looking unit. You know, I think I remember the under-hood muffler as an option on orchard and industrial tractors. like the tires too. Good Luck! I'm seeing 8 hole wheels on the back, is there an adaptor between the wheel and tractor hub? The D10 III had 6 bolt on the hub. ------------- |
