Funny how you get no replies from a fella till you ask about him on public forum. So will try again.  Matt have not heard from you on how to change bracket on power steering pump where the pully is welded on. First impression mean alot to most people??  Also wondered what the meaning of AS-IS actually means.  Anyone is welcome to chime in on AS-IS and welded pulley problem. AS-IS means old and used but still useable to me but feel free to correct me. The AS-IS in an add has burnt me twice latley. Gary IN

I guess to me it means you take the chance. But I don't believe you should sell something if you might know it has a problem without disclosing the problem upfront.  Unfortunately sometimes a deal is a deal no matter which way it is going!

as is means just that. what you see is what you get. I am with the other poster on believing its immoral to falsely advertise something though. If you were led to believe it was a good working unit as it sat, then it should have been in working order, if the seller made no claim to the operation/functionality of it then unfortunetely, its on the buyer to make sure its what your looking for.
I guess long story short, to me as is means: here it is take a look, if you buy it, there are no warranties or guarantees. Its your property from the second the money changes hands on.

It is something like horse trading , it is up to the buyer to ask the questions. I always ask "Is there anything I should know about....?"

When you sell used parts you are responsible to determine if the part is cobbled-up, if it is, then don't pretend you don't know it's condition and try selling "as-is", unless you descibe what cobbling has been done to part[s], pretty simple. If I cannot figure the qaulity of a use part, I sell as "core", with the understanding that part has not been tested or verified.
