Some odd 4 wheel drive units in use , early attempts for more power .
Then notice at the 1 min mark the push pull plow on the tractor , using both ends at same time, Two way plows also seem common ..

At one time, my dad was seriously thinking about making a 4 wheel drive out of two D-17s.   Kind of wish he had gone ahead and built one.

My brother had a souped up UC Allis and souped up WD hooked up together, and pulled a six bottom plow with them.  Later he hooked up two 40 Cockshutts with duals and pulled an eight bottom Oliver plow with it.  We had to be careful on the turns because the back tractor would try to run over him.  Ford tractors had a factory kit for Ford 6000's and other Ford tractors for a tandem hook up.

Here is a video of a guy in Western Canada that used to make these types of tractors for people before the articulated 4WD tractors caught on.

last fall I was bidding on a John Deere R That was the second tractor from a double setup, needed alot of work and a front axle, it had long rods over the hood that went to the next tractor for the hand clutch and throttle.  neat how people make some configurations.

My great grandpa built what they called a truck wagon/trailer it was a 2 ton truck frame that had the trans and rearend hooked up with the trans hooked to the PTO on the John Deere B.  had a hydraulic dump bed.  My grandpa said you could go anywhere with the biggest load even.  They used to use it to go to the river and get sand for mixing concrete.  they would shovel it full and drive home, went right up what we call the yellow banks.
