The hold position valve started leaking quite profusely at the camshaft outer O-ring yesterday.
Removed two bolts, disconnected the linkage and one hose and had it off and in my hand in minutes.
Four O-rings later, buttoned it back up with
 nary a leak.This is the first that I have had to touch the hydraulics since my Dad gave me the job of rebuilding the whole system back in '58 when I was a teenager in high school.
We resurrected it from a barn fire back then.

So I went through this this past weekend myself, I had to take it all apart to free everything up and get it moving. Noted that the o rings and seals needed to be replaced, but didn't have any on hand so put it all back together for now. So I take it that there is nothing special about the o rings and seals then, and any the same size will work? On a separate question, how should the hydraulics work? when adjusted to the hold position, we can now feel the detent in the middle, but something must still need adjusting because the up is not really working correctly and down is FAST. Should down be able to be slow like a D15 II's system, or is this not possible because of different systems? The only control over the speed of the lowering is by how far you move the hand lever from the detent position. If you look in your operators manual you will see a manual stop that can be clamped on the quadrant. It was originally intended to be use when you had the grain drill mounted. I use mine to keep from dropping my mower too hard. We need more info on the up speed issue. About the hold function; the rams must not lower if you raise them, leave the hand lever up, shut the tractor off. If they lower your hold valve is leaking by the check ball. ------------- Dave |
