Hey Forum Members,

I made a small 10 question survey, just for fun, to gauge what is some of the main interests in the AC tractor line. I would appreciate it if you would take a min out to take the survey. I will post the results later! :)

Thanks,
AF

Done -- also did not answer last one - would have just been a guess, not data based.

The last two were just curiosity ones. I am interested to see which one people think are good/bad. I think I will make a follow up survey after this one to see why people think a particular model is good/bad.

I agree, the last two to give an informed opinion, one would need a lot of experience.  Some of the contributors could give valuable insight.  My experience is too limited.

1. learned to drive on a WD at age 6, orange had a sappy governor, and with the snap coupler and mounted equipment, it could go thru lots of places the drawbar equipment could not. hand clutch was the best thing too. Green was ok, but still liked the quick responses on gov of orange no matter if it was the fifty's models or into the seventies...190XT sat better, hydraulics better, power steering quick, rear ends and trannys did not hold up as well in early ones.
2. Love the steel, don't need to pump them up, hate the ride, jar your guts out on hard ground... Love rubber for smoother ride and actual more traction.
3. Love the styled and unstyled... the past and the present... which style are you talking about? the WD or the XT or the 1000 series?
4. Gas in the winter, easier to start, diesel in the summer, more fuel efficient, LP gas for cleaner oil and cleaner combustian and lesser headaches from exhaust... and a greater deterrent for theft of fuel...
5. Singles hop to much, would love to have my XT sittng on a narrow front. easier to get into tighter places, nicer for corn cultivation... wide front better for ride and safer...
6.Snap coupler had its unique advantages but harder tp hook up sometimes... 3pt is everywhere so more tools can be hooked up and go.
7. What era were AC's built the best?  Depends on some factors... who likes what... I hate electronic gizmoes on tractor, simple mechanical controls and instumentation instead of sensores and computer controlled.. So hence the early part of 70's  But the 1914-1940 were rugged old beasts that were just that rugged, 40's & fiftieswere little bit more refined and 60's &70's more refined and then the 80's... never got to own one of them...
8.What do you call small medium and large HP? Little B allis, had no time for them other than to cut yard grass and pull the hayrope or run a rake... Most of the work was done with WD-45, D17 then heavy work was 190XT , 1855 and 4520
9. 190XT III, 210/220.
10. worst ones? the ones gone to the scrap yards...

Well the survey was not conclusive enough for my thoughts... Like is fire good? It isn't when your house is burning down... but it is for cooking and keeping you warm...LOL

It's an opinion based survey. No right or wrong answers.

Since the parameters of the survey will not let me answer honestly, I will do it here.
 1. Both Allis Chalmers Green and Orange
 2. Both
 3. Both
 4. all
 5. all
 6. Snap Coupler ! Far superior !
 7. all
 8. all
9 and 10. There are a lot of variables to these two ? Different operators, environment, care, etc.
