i was rolling down the road today ( no wobble) when i hit a rough place and the left front popped, it shot 5 of 6 lug studs out as if you shot them with a shotgun, then the wheel and the top part of the hub fell off the left front, the hub showed signs of a old brake at one lug hole but all the rest was fresh break.
called the local agco dealer and it would be next week before they could get in the hub, , it appears there are two different hubs on the 6060, of course he had the one that would not fit local napa after measureing the old one, is supposed to get me one in friday afternnon.
still this was not going to help get it off the right of way today, so i bored the threads out of the remaining 4 holes and used long grade 5 , 1/2" bolts with locking nuts as lugs, put the busted hub back on with 4 of 6 bolts and drove it home and put it back to work pulling a 14 ft disk, but i did get the 700 lbs off the front rack.
oh well if you dont break something you aint farming!!! ------------- i like old tractors of all colors |

| I remember one time as a kid, Dad got a flat on the front of the 7050 we were a mile from the home place. He jacked that side up and chained tha front axle to the frame rail. Removed the tire and rim and drove it the rest of the way home. Real slow if memory serves. |

I have a older gentelman that leaves his backhoe here at my house. He was coming though the creek crossing that is across the road from me and the front wheel and hub came off. Now this was 2 days before I was going to the hospital for knee replacement surgery, he came to me very worried and confused. he said I have to get it out of the creek, but I can't move it like that and I don't want to leave even down by the creek. So I grabbed my 3/4" drive set (I carry most other tools in the truck) and told him to get in and I would see what I could do. We got down to the creek I had him lift the front end up as high as he could with the bucket and found a socket that would go between the axle and frame on the good side. Loaded the tire and hub in the bucket and sent him to the house nice and easy. He looked at me like I was crazy but did it, when we got back to the house he said "I didn't even know you could do something like that." And the day before my surgery I put the new hub and bearings in it for him. I've also talked to several people that knows him and they told me that he told them about how I fixed it where he could just drive it out. I've used this trick a lot when I worked for MODot they would break a front spindle at lease 1 a year, when they used 2 wheel drive tractors and it was always in the worst spot to work on. I would do this they would drive it out of the ditch and down the road some times a mile or so to a place that was good to work on it. ------------- 1969 190XT series 3 |

i thought about blocking it up as well but i was 8 miles between farms and was afraid it would pop out somewhere in route
i have blocked up wide fronts before, here on the farm to get it to the shop,but i was afraid to travel that far with it that a way.
new hub arrived today with new bearing set, will probably put it on tomorrow, but the old girl is running fine on the 4 as of now, i pulled a 14' jd disk over 28 acres yesterday twice, and just came in from planting corn for s friend ------------- i like old tractors of all colors |
