3rd half turn on the crank, and the WC fired up like it was started yesterday. had been in storage since last october. What is it about those old engines? Big smile

Same here.
My D-15 II has sat outside all winter without being started.

Had only added Gas Stabilizer. Battery still in it.

Turned on the gas, pulled the choke, 3 flips and it was running.

These old engines are amazing.

Wife's 2 year old Pontiac G-5, parked inside.

Front tire flat,battery stone dead.

Go figure

Low compression, high lift, narrow throats, metal floats, big orfices, healthy magnetos... three clicks put a charge of live fuel in a cylinder and off she goes.

The more I work on modern cars, the more I love my old tractors.  My '38 B has NEVER been stranded by a dead battery...  ('cause it has no battery)

Fired up my '28   20-35 yesterday after it's winter sleep. Turned on the gas and let the carb fill;  1/4 pull over the top with full choke; release choke and another 1/4 pull and she fired right up.  This is an old original that has never had an engine rebuild!

Yep, nothing else like those old engines really. I am sure at the time they were new, it was no big deal to fire em up with the hand crank, but when the electric starter came out, that was the ticket. Now we have a liken to the old stuff!
