Well i kinda tagged this onto the other post of my 175, but didnt get no bites so ill throw it back out there.  While working with the PD lever removal, I also took off the PD cover plate.  On the pick-up tube there is a screen for stopping large particles from entering the pump.  Well it appears to me the screen is like 80% clogged.  I thought this cant be good for longevity.  The screen is held on by 2 screws.  I have removed the easy one,  havent been successful on the other yet.  Is it worth it to remove and clean this screen?? I cant see how it wouldnt be.  Do i have to split the tractor to remove the screen??  Am i nuts for worrying about this??  Thanks

I wonder if you could get in there and spray it with something strong like brake parts cleaner. That would probably open the screen up without taking it out. Of course let all the cleaner drain out. I'd like to see a picture sometime of it or have you already posted one.
