Can anyone tell me how hard it is to replace the wiring harness on a B with no lights but electric start. I had my generator rebuilt and I still don't get a charge so Im assuming that a mouse chewed through the mess of wires in the tool box under the gas tank. I, also am wondering is has anyone ver made their own harness out of romex? Thanks Peter ------------- 5 Steigers, 7 John Deeres, 8 Internationals, 4 Case tractors and combines and 1 Oliver ........... Oh wait they're all 1/64.......and a real '44 B |

I wouldn't use solid wire. I have made my own harness with 10ga braided wire. Did you polarize the generator before starting the engine?

Pretty darn easy if you purchase one of our wiring systems.  Step by step wiring instructions, color coded wiring, along with numbered circuitry, and color coded CAD wiring diagram. All you need is ambition to install it. That doesn't come in the kit. If interested, drop us a line. Be happy to help you out....

Any generator can charge as negative ground or positive ground. If you don't polarize it after wiring and before starting there is a good chance it doesn't know what ground you have and can discharge the battery instead of charging it. Eventually the smoke will come out of the genny or the cut out or regulator, whatever you have and you can't put the smoke back in. Thanks Ctucker that gives me more of an idea, Im not looking to spend alot of money but hopefully I wont spend too much, as for polarizing and the cut outs and regulators, I have a friend who is great at red tractors and hopefully he could help me ------------- 5 Steigers, 7 John Deeres, 8 Internationals, 4 Case tractors and combines and 1 Oliver ...........
