I think mine would be an IB with a WD45 engine, a CA transmission and a Woods l-306 mower. Can it be done?

I like the way my C does with an L-306 on it. Just need to get some new wheels for mine. Would LOVE to have a hand clutch though!

1952 CA with a Woods L-306 deck is a good all-around machine. It does good in straight lawn grass as well as roadsides with weeds and tall grass. Keep the belts tight, blades sharp, and it does pretty good for a tractor that's 60 years old.

I have a D-12 Series III with a 3pt finishing mower. I wished it had power steering.
Rough mowing is with a D-15 Series II with 3 pt bush hog. Most of the good lawn is mowed with a Grasshopper Zero turn. All good!

One with enough room to fit my 90# lab on it! He loves to ride the mower!
Zero turn mowers have a good sized deck plate for this!!

I have cut grass with Bs and Cs with belly mowers for almost 40 years now. Does that qualify me? Nope just felt good to say it, LOL.
Anyway unless you know of a drive belt that I have never been able to find a B125 in good shape will put out more power than the belt will stand for very long. Currently we have both a B and a C set up with mowers. A B goes faster in 2nd gear especialy the early ones. Our early 38B in first gear will run along side the 41 C in second. C turns shorter which is nice. Hand brakes are yuk on a user IMO. ALways wanted to set one up with some sort of real live PTO just for giggles. Given a pile of parts to work from my tractor would have model B finals and housings, and be model C from there forward with live PTO, ind hydraulics and power steering added. The B-125 powerplant would remain.

AC 720 for me. Hydro and power steering and 60" deck. Perfect mowing machine. Late model features and is still an AC.
------------- Yea, I can fix that.....

Dave, How about your favored recipe except use a 160cid engine from a D15? That could be put together fairly easy. Everything would be simple mix & match bolt together components, with nothing more complicated than drilling out the holes in the front motor plate or using step down studs if you can find them. Now go build it! Kip

I really like mowing with My C with woods L306. I had a woods on my CA also and gave it away. the C is better for mowing. if it had live hydraulics and live power it would be a slight improvement. but the hand clutch setup on the CA just don't hackit. its realy worse than nothing. I put the optional manual lift on instead. I have a 3pt mower also and don't use it I just can't stand haveing it behind me swinging the opposite direction that I turn. it does work good for backing under the trees. I use a WD45 for that thought again the CA handclutch is just wrong.

If this rig had a short stack, a tail seat and an up front deck so you can get up and under tree branches, I think it would be at the top of my list. I could even drive it across the creek to keep some paths in the overgrown pasture for deer hunting access.

Might as well add a 3 point to the back in case you need to do some brush hoggin or plow the garden.3 point might not work with a tail seat but OH Well!

I have a woods L59 under a B which I have used for over ten years. I like it real well. I put a woods 59 right hand under one of my C's which does a good job also but I do not like the idea of the 59 mower being narrower than the rear tractor tires. I think that with the 59 mower I will put it under a B with a C narrow front some time iin the future. That I think will be the ideal mower for me.

How about a D-12 Series III with Live Hydraulic to lift and lower a Woods belly mower, and Live PTO for mowing around fence posts etc. Could the rear Axle Housings been turned 90 degrees like an IB to lower it. Use a 'B' wishbone front axle inverted. Sounds like a project. Gary

We have a 5015 with a Deutz Allis 60A mower belly mounted. That little diesel is great as we have some steep slopes and it has a lot of torque. The diff lock helps when the uphill drive wheel looses traction. Probably a 4x4 would be better but this gets it done. I used it last year, and am still getting used to the 2 stage clutch for hte live PTO.

5020 with a 60 in belly mower works good as long as the electric clutch holds up. Fast and maneuverable. I have the LCG version. But nothing beats a 52" Ferris zero turn.

Toss up between my CA W/Woods L306 mower (I do like the hand clutch on the CA...however, had to rebuild several of them to get them to work properly) and the AGCO 2020LC W/5' cutting deck. Both gets lots of work on the 5 acres I mow. The CA gets the nod for the 1/2 mi ditch banks on both sides of the county road in front of the house and around the pond. The L2020LC (with hydro drive, power tilt/trim on the deck) gets the nod for around the house.

Dave,
I don't have the perfect mowing tractor; I use three tractors, two WD45's one with a 84" rear mounted mower and one with a 80-R mower and I trim with a 60" Grass hopper. Dad and I mow the yard and trim around the feilds in about one hour.
Did I say that I don't like to mow. lol

Im gonna be the "odd one " here, but I use a farmall super A with a L59 woods mower. It works really well for me . However I think using a CA with a wide front and a L59 would be a better choice.

When we lived in Michigan I had a Kubota 6200 ( I think) with a 48" deck and the heel/toe hydro. I could cut about 3 acres of lawn with that tractor in two hours and a gallon of diesel fuel. Wish I never would have sold it...
