| Hey was looking for an opinion on a 160 190 and 200 allis tractors looking for hay operation tractors and as far as I know all are diesel. They may need some work anything important to look for and do they all offer live pto and 7 gpm hydraulic flow. Thanks moonlighter. |

190 and 200 are good tractors. Really can't be beat. Stay away from 160. Odd diesel engine that's near imposible to find parts for. 170 or 180 diesel's would be a better fit. ------------- Yea, I can fix that..... |

| You have to remember that to have live PTO requires using the neutral position of the pd clutch to stop forward motion and still have the PTO turning. If you step on the foot clutch, the PTO is dead. I've used AC tractors using the PD clutch for haying for years and it works for me. Darrel |

That 190 is kinda scary with the oil puddle under it...but it does have the old snap coupler hitch. I'm wondering if it is even a diesel as they list it at 77hp.... ------------- ALLIS EXPRESS! This year: |

| I have to disagree with Dave, I have owned a 160 for over 25 years and it has ben one of the toughest, most reliable tractors I have ever owned, and I have always ben able to get any part I have needed. On the other hand the worst tractor I have ever had was a 190XT. Just My opinion-Ken |

We purchased a 160 late last summer. We did a fair amount of work to it and the dealer didn't have much trouble finding parts. You will have to check with a few different parts suppliers but most everything is available. We put our 3 pt 5 wheel hay rake on it and love it. It's easy on fuel, has a wide variety of speeds, etc. From what I've heard, the Perkins engine is a very reliable engine. I would think a 160 would be good for raking and tedding but a larger tractor would be best for mowing/baling depending on the size of equipment you plan on using. I must be remembering some other tractor....I thought I recalled several emebrs aving heavy issues with the 160 engines and that it had a French or Italian diesel in it. Gentlemen, I stand corrected.
If the 170 is an updated 17 is the 160 built off an updated 15 chassis? ------------- Yea, I can fix that..... |

The One-Sixty was built by Renault under contract for Allis Chalmers. The engine is a Perkins 152 which was also used in a couple of Massey Fergusons. It doesn't share very many parts with the rest of the 100 series tractors.
