I think I might have an engine oil leak or it could be from the power steering on the D-17. I can't tell. What is the best way to tell? And if I find it's from the engine, what is the best treatment anyone on here has attempted?

Clean up the area around the leak, then look for new leaking while using the tractor. At that point you should have a better idea of what your have (engine or PS leak).

sprinkle flower or powder around where the leak is. MACK

You can use UV leak tracer dye and a black light. With dye in only one compartment, it will be very easy to find out which is leaking. The dye and light can be had at Napa.
