Well the final drive assembly is a bit worn but solid and the sprocket liveable unless I decide to cut away my outer ring and weld it on the replacement spokes. I am still setting up to replace the assembly. Not many parts still laying about for these machines, a little on the scary side but as I have been running and working the machine with new fluids and filters more systems start to recover function. Right steer clutch actually disengages enough for gradual turning with out the brake applied, still fighting with the left side, may pull the cover and see if the line is blocked or cracked or if the relief is stuck open at the spool. Still no low side reverse, I suspect it is just not going to work yet it could be a garbage filled rifle passage as well, may be able to pull the pressure tap plug(when I can find it) and see if it does get fluid and pressure.
First chance I get, renting a power washer and going to remove the residue on everything, can barely find some bolts, mounds of oil laden dirt everywhere and just need to get it cleaned up. Big issue there, I have to truck the water in for now.
Did get the 'T' on the bucket removed & cleaned for the open side of the cylinders, welded up nicely and holding for now, may still need to make up a new weldment 'T' fitting. Home made cage is busted to bupkis, Will need to remove the overbuilt assembly to do any functional repair to or for it. May just need to have it off for access improvement to do repairs. Found and have six rail links coming from General Gear, the set on this one is sealed track and they had some 'reasonable' links(same cast numbers) available, better than the current condition of the master pins; did find a local (cough, sputter, gag) John Deere dealer that will push the link pins and swap the bad links out, I just have to get them the rails. Time to see what my 500 loader on the 180 is capable of lifting, may require a wrecker or real forklift to pick them up.
As I conquer the up front issues I may start scavenge hunts for a decent hood and the sprocket/idler covers to add some class to the old girl, hood presently on it is from a 7Gb. Exhaust is so much more tolerable out of a stack with a rain rattle on it.
