Does anyone know of any problems with the 6070 model? I see one on Tractor house for cheap in Ohio. Are they as nice as the 6080?

Here is the listing on Tractor house. Just wondering if anyone has had history with this model and your thoughts. Looking for a hay tractor.

Same tractor except smaller clutch and no intercooler and 73 HP instead of 83 HP.....rear tires sizes may be smaller and on pressed steel centers depending on how it was ordered.

This tractor was a ROPS tractor with a factory cab installed recently. Would that be a concern as far as electrical and other mechanical operation?

Hey Nut, I saw that tractor too. I googled the phone number and saw he was looking for a door for the cab at one time...I wish it was closer I would go take a look.  I only need a 2wd tractor and this would be exactly what I could use, but kinda concerned that it hasn't sold by now at that price. Could be because it is 2wd and mfd is what everyone wants now????

I talked to the guy this afternoon and he said he overhauled the engine and new clutch. Seems like a nice tractor, but the cab thing  makes me wonder. I should have him check the serial # as might be one of the last Allis Chalmers tractors built!!

Did you ask him about the thrust bearing update?? Did he install AC?

6070s were made in 1984 and 1985.  I think the thrust bearing issues were resolved by then.  Looks like factory ac compressor (with no cover).  Sounds like a pretty nice deal, especially if it is overhauled.

It would bother me that it was overhauled.....they usually last 8 or 9,000 hrs before it's needed.

People talk about the thrust bearing problems on the 6060 and 6080 tractors. Was there a specific date or tractor serial number where this problem was fixed at the factory before the tractors were sold ?

the thrust bearing was a bigger issue in the 6080, than the 6060 because it had the heavier clutch, here is a listing i just found for a fwa 6060 that might be a good deal

I wonder how those industrial rear tires match up to the new front tires as far as the 4x4 goes? They look kinda small....
