Hi:
Diagnosing a 1953 G, with weak hydraulic function, i.e. raises only 1" slowly. Pump is not noisy, but am not sure about oil level....is it the transmission case that's used as the common reservoir?
I have adjusted the knob on the front side of the top assembly, assuming it's the pressure relief setting...no changes.
So, is this a valve issue, a pressure setting, a suction/supply issue or is the pump just shot?
Thanks for any help on this, Colin

The hydraulic reservoir is the transmission case, so check level of transmission fluid.

Since I couldn't find a separate reservoir, I assumed it was common, like the old crawlers using 20-30wt.
I've heard that using 90wt gear oil can cause a problem, but it seemed to be thin oil, like motor oil.
I've also heard that since the pump actually works, it is best to check the suction tube, ports, relief valve etc.
The tractor will be at my shop next week, so looking forward to a simple fix, but if you've got further hints, I'd like to hear.
Thanks, C
