I have two D17 diesel tractors: a 1960 Wheatland and a 1958 Series 1. The engine in the Wheatland runs well but is getting to be a little tired. The motor in the Series 1 is in excellent condition. Both tractors are still pretty nice with original paint and decals. My intentions were to swap motors in the two tractors so the Wheatland, the more valuable of the two, would have the better motor. Lately, I have been wondering if that engine swap would potentially hurt the value of the Wheatland. What do you think? Thanks.

I would not switch them, the engine from the 58 series I will have the bypass oiling and the wheatland has the full flow setup. Just won't look right and would hurt the value of the wheatland, in my opinion anyway.

You would be better off to overhaul the wheatland. After swapping those finicky motors around you might end up with more trouble than you have now.
