I recently bought a No. 2 steel wheel plow, 2 bottom. (At least I think its a no. 2)
It has the spring release hitch, and I don't have the steel ring (Not sure what its called) to bolt to my drawbar. What can I use instead? ------------- Galatians 5:22-24 "I got a pig at home in a pen and corn to feed him on, All I need is a pretty little girl to feed him when I'm gone!" |

I used a twisted clevis until I found the original bolt on clevis. It worked but wasn't quite right! ------------- You don't really have to be smart if you know who is! |

| The twisted clevises as sold at TSC or Farm Fleet will NOT work correctly with the coupler. Things can bind and bad things result, I have a bent drawbar to prove it. There are some older lighter built and longer twisted clevises that will work in a pinch but what you should have is a ring that bolts to the drawbar as Dipstick said. Being as my stuff is all user grade and people are quite proud of the factory clevises I welded some up in the shop from 3/4 round stock formed to a "D" and welded to 1/2 x 3 flat bar with hole drilled for a bolt. |

| Go to ebay and type in (oliver clevis). The oliver clevis has been welded. It would probly be ok but I would skip it. The short clevis would be the John Deere clevis which is much like the allis clevis. for all I know the short clevises are the same for both John Deere and Allis Chalmers. A good Oliver clevis usually goes between 20 and 30 bucks. I have not paid attention to what the short clevis goes for. |

Don, I can sell one of the two plow clevises on the left (right one not for sale) if they will work. $30 plus shipping.

| Yes Don it is a #2. They were the only ones that had tail wheels that carried the rear of the plow when out of the ground. They were also available with a long rear landside and no wheel or a rolling landside(most of the time improprerly called a tail wheel) Those types had an adjustable chain over pivot on the hitch to pick the rear of the plow completely off the ground when raised and all #1 and #4 plows were made this way. In case you need parts for the bottoms those are #24 |

Shoot Don, I dont have any fancy fixens like prim and proper plow wrenches, LOL.
Can't say for sure about the wrench, one way to tell is every one of those I have ever been around that was prim and proper for the plow had openings that fit the nuts on the coulter bolts and the flat on the top of the shank. If more than two openings it should fit the nuts on the share draw bolt also.
Lugs are not an easy find, at least when I was wanting them. The head of the bolt wears down and then the lug can fall off the bolt and the bolt will rattle around until it will fall through the wheel.. If some are missng good chance the others are "there" too. Look closely at the lugs and you will see the parting line. I replace the bolts wth standard carrige bolts, 3/8" I think, been a while. They only look odd until you use the plow for half a day.

My parts books dont show that plow. My mentor in such things Ted Buisker told me he had heard of 2 bottom #1s but never seen one.

The #1 is a lighter duty plow with a smaller tail wheel.
