Ok I have a b got it running decided to play with the hydraulics and their not working. Pulled the pump and the oil I drained from rear end was horrible looking with a inch of sludge in the bottom I don't think there was enough oil in. It for the pump to pick it up only got an ice cream bucket 3/4 full removed the pto housing cleaned all the sludge out but now question is, does this same oil share flow with the transmission? If so will just flushing diesel fuel in it remove the thick sludge? Also what is the capacity of the reservoir? Also is there a method to bench test the hydra pump? I need to buy a book I feel im being windy.

6 quarts shared with tranny and differential, any good hytran or universal transdraulic fluid will work fine. Diesel fuel should clean it up. The PTO has to be engaged for the hydraulics to work.
If you have the pump off, you can stick the pick-up in some oil and pump the cam followers by hand to move fluid through it.

Ok got home from work a little bit ago and could remember somebody talking on a post I read this afternoon about the pumps on the b getting plugged causing them to fail. Said you could clean them up with solvent essentially well got home and had to try it. I fashioned a resevoir by drilling a hole in an oil jug lid poured half full of diesel screwed it onto the sump nipple placed pump upside down in the vise and went to working the rockers by hand. Nothing moved for probably 30 cycles im thinking bad pump when it spit out a clump of crap that looked horrible well pumped a hole pint of fuel through it guess it goes on tomorrow hopefully problem solved.

Great to hear my favorite is "back to battery".
The B usuallr has very few problems with the veryvsimple hid pump.
