I started work on my wc gas tank today. I sanded off the bottom and found a lot of solder. It looks like some of it was farmer work and not AC original. I sanded/wirebrushed most of the excess off. I found one hole which I can repair but I also smelled old fuel while using the wirebrush on the 4.5" grinder. I'm worried about the seam on the bottom and the seams around each end. I was reading about Caswell 2 part epoxy tank liner and wondered if anyone has used it or similar. I read about several brands but I like the idea of a 2 part epoxy. I put several small pieces of chain in it and strapped it to a cement mixer for 2 hrs. and it looks pretty clean. I'll do it again tomorrow but the motor gets hot after an hour or so. I'm willing to spend what ever time it takes to do this but I want a good product and want it done right the first time. Thanks for any advice.

Some of the older tank liners will not stand up to alcohol in the gas, be sure the kit you use is for the New fuel and is tested or OK for alcohol.

Most resins like used for fiberglass will not stand up , in fact fiberglass tanks that were used on motorcycles will dissolve with modern fuel.

If you use any kit be sure to clean tank with their pre-cleaner and in many cases they need to be acid etched to remove all rust .

Most tank treating kits are air/moisture setting compounds using the room air moisture content as the activator. Why if you use them the resin should not be put back into origonal container if it's not all used in one tank.

I have used the system POR 15 it seals up seams and pin holes.

I use the the Marine clean and Metal prep like states and then the sealer.

I have done at least 10 tanks all look good.
