I just had a quote to Chrome my D 21 grill. Sit down for this or is this the price ? $375 a side and $175 each for the center parts. Also the sides of the grill for a B10 Yup $175 each !! Bargen of the day $90.00 for the throttle on the D 21. IS THIS THE NORM? This is also a cheaper spot in Mission BC Canada. What is going for back east ? Let me know, I may drive up there and grab it back and ship back east. Looking for Feedback good or bad. Typing in shock Darryl!!!! ------------- B 10 Custom. | Darryl, there is a place here in Ky. in Livermore that refinished a grille for a D-21 for Chad I think. Maybe he will see this and help you out. May find the old post. He had pictures of his D-21 on here a few monthes ago. Nick |

| called a place in richmond, VA about 2 years ago about redoing a grille for a '75 W-900 KW and it was gonna be 350 or 375. Outer shell and three vertical bars...I didn't ask, but I assume he'd clean it up from how it looks on the truck. -Wes oh and I think it was called hanlon plating |

Chrome plating is not a cheap venture. There are a lot of things involved with chrome plating that makes it so expensive. Especially if your getting it in a show chrome. The one thing about chrome plating is, if the piece that you are plating is in mint condition, (no pits, etc) then the job will turn out beautiful by a replicable shop with not a whole lotta' work. If the piece has pits, rust, etc. then it will need a lot of work to get it right before it goes through the plating process. Because its a three part process, (copper nickel & chrome) and the enviromental rules and regs that is put on the chemicals, and disposing of such chemicals, all drives up the cost of plating. The larger the piece to get plated, the higher the cost it is to plate it. Fact of life. Dazzle can get expensive..... Steve@B&B |

| You can thank the federal gov't for the high cost of chrome now adays. It's all the hazardous materials fees and taxes they throw in there now...not to mention the price of chemicals going through the roof. Then you add the labor of the trained/certified person to do it..blah blah blah. Just imagine having to chrome parts for a CAR instead of just a grill on a tractor!!! It ain't pretty at first!!! |

| Try Ogden Chrome in Utah. You can submit pictures and get an estimate online. They did some Camaro bumpers for me and was very pleased with the quality and service. Not sure if they still offer it, but was free shipping both ways....only about 2 week turnaround for me at the time. |

Advance Plating in Nashville is also very high. For my Ferguson I had them replate 2 hood latches and the number "4" and "0" along with the trim piece that goes around the numbers. It could all fit in a 5"x5" box. $250. ------------- 1957 WD45 dad's first AC 1968 one-seventy 1956 F40 Ferguson |

what bout mirrored stainless it will last longer i had a guy give me a price a few years ago at 30 cents a pound then charge me to bend it . it was the dash cover on my XT. Shawn ------------- 190XT,D17and 7045 |

We paid $450.00 to chrome grille on our D-21 and we had 2 hood handles and throttle lever done also and I think total was $600.00. Chroming is outrageous due to EPA and all regulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------- 5 different TT-10's,5 TT-18's Terra Tigers,B-10,2 B-207's,B-110,2 B-112's,HB-112,B-210,B-212,HB212,2 Scamp's & Homilite T-10. Still hunting NICE HB-112 & anything Terra Tiger & Trailers for them. |

| Well i did a quick google search on this before posting and sounding dumb, but you might want to look into chrome powder coating. I dont know much about it, even less on a price. PC seems doable, more places that would probably do it too. I think there is also a chrome shop called "I-65 chrome shop" near remington, IN at the intersection of I-65 and SR 24. I dont know if they do chroming or just install chorme accessories. |

Brother had the bumpers for his 55 Chevy B120 wagon done 3,4 years ago for $2500! A place in London,Ontario.As others have said, government rules and regulations have shutdown 99.9% of the guys doing the plating.
Have you asked local motorcycle shops where they get stuff done?
Other options to 'trailerqueen show stopping 'chrome plating are anodizing and nickel plating.Not as shiny but a lot cheaper.It's be interesting to see who comes up with 'chrome' powder coating.THAT will be a HUGE money maker !

Chrome powder coating is definitely an option but it has its limitations. Straight out of the oven it looks pretty darn close to the real thing, but unfortunately like most any metallic powder, it almost always requires a clear coat layer of powder to make it stand up to any chemicals, heat, and sunlight. The clear coat tends to dull the chrome a little. But it's definitely cheaper than the real thing. The shop I worked at did quite a few parts with a powder called 'black chrome'. These two were done at Cambridge Chrome in Cambridge Ontario. As Steve said there is a lot of work to do good quality. Cambridge does a lot of classic car and retoration business and has a very good reputation. Can't remember excatly but was $7-800 each including the grab handles. This was several years ago. | when i redid my 1968 dodge power wagon to rechrome the rear bumper was over 400. for the metal dodge power wagon name plates i did thechrome powder coating which was way cheaper than real chrome and it dont look bad |

The cheapest I've ever seen is "Italian Chrome". Silver paint.......I think Fred used that on the bumpers of his Chevelle.
