Eldon, your pie weights shown on Brian Ahart's site look very much like mine except for the "nub" you speak of.
The number on my weights is AM4493 and they came with my Series II D-17.
I wonder if the number on your weights is AM4493-1 rather than AM 4483-1 as shown on Brian Ahart's site.
I'm thinking the -1 might be the indicator for the later Series III and up weights.
BTW, it would seem that the "nub" was for "stacking" weights.
The back of the first weight rides on the lug bold head.
When stacking, the back of the second weight would ride on the nub instead of the bolt head. Well, it makes sense to me.  LOL
