I'm looking at a 5040 with a blown head gasket. Owner says he blew the head gasket using a bush hog. Seems that he plugged the radiator up with debris ..never cleaned it off and the engine subsequently overheated. It would seem to me that the head might now be warped... and that I should stay away from it. The machine has 1300 original hours on it and a 500 series loader. Price $6500.. maybe too high??  Am I right to suspect that the head may have some problems..???  Thanks

Turn around and run, that's what I would do. I don't know the 50 series tractors, but if it got hot enough to cause damage, there could be a lot more wrong with it. What is the loader and a scrap tractor worth? I doubt $6500.

Looks about $6000 more than I would pay.
