I recently purchased a 1966 190 XT with a gas engine, SN9561. It set for maybe 10 years, more to less when I purchased it. Since buying this tractor I then starting reading posts in this forum and is there something wrong with the power director for these tractors? Mechanic has the tractor running and it sounds really sweet. But after reading the posts in this forum I wondering whether to stop where I am with it or continue to restore it. The pan been taked off and all is well with the bearings and etc. Resurfaced flywheel and replaced clutch thus far. It still needs tires all around. Sheet metal is excellent. So anyway can anyone comment what I need to watch for with this Power director? Can it be shifted from low to high while in motion?
Thanks

Make sure its full of hyd. oil and give it a whirl , Only thing with setting that long the rubber -o- rings get hard and wont seal good ; i,m working on a 200 now thats been seting and running into alot of oil leaks ; the Powerdirector in a gas tractor should be good shape , but over time the high side clutches do break

These Power Director clutches are very strong and capable of some abuse, but remember that everything wears out at some point and we are talking about tractors that are 40 to 46 years old.
