That would be a NO in my book.  It has mechanical problems.  For $8500 it would have to be perfect in every way IMHO.

IMO it's either the wife said get rid of that mailto:!@#$%" rel="nofollow - !@#$% tractor and he says it on craigs list honey but nobodies even called on it. Or he is the one who did the work in 2000 and thinks he should get all of his money out of it.

Only fair tires on the back, jumps out of second and the homemade fenders, and lord knows what else if you're standing next to it. I'd say he's close to $6000 over what it's worth.

And he doesn't know what "restored" means a nice paint job isn't restored, it's repainted. LOL

I thought all diesel grills  were flush with the front end casting piece.
Not crazy about those fenders!

I thought that the front grill shell that covers the radiator usually sits flush to the end of the frame rails on a diesel? Am I missing something here? It looks more like a 4 cylinder engine in that thing. I don't think it's the angle of the picture shot either.  Rick

Someone help me out. I see a 3 bolt wide front. I always thought they went to the 4 bolt when the diesel came out.

Looks like a Buda diesel. Looks like the front end was extended? Nice ultra rare flat top factory option fenders! LOL maybe it will show up at the swap meet in March...

This 45D ain't right.  The front end has been extended,  The fenders are wrong.  There is no drawbar.   And you know it has trans problems.  Noway at that price.

Here is a full restoration of one, with lots of pictures.

And yes the Grill Shell appears to be set back farther than it should for a 45 Diesel.

It gets worse. I called and was told it has a knock in the motor. The seller had the pump and injectors rebuilt, and on the way home, it started knocking. I agree, it looks like the frame rails have extra holes drilled in the front section and the incorrect 3 bolt wide front sticks out too far from the bottom of the grill shroud. Looks like 100 series fenders.

It is NOT worth that.  It is only falling in value with the knock in the engine and the bad trans. IMHO It seems like they have tried to make their problems look pretty.  The 45 diesel did have the grill that was flush with the front end. This is made from parts to atleast one other tractor.

Here is another picture of a 1956 WD45 Diesel that shows the relation of the grill shroud and the front on the bolster.

CORRECTION, evidently the lady who posted the original Craigslist add has more than one tractor she is listing for different sellers and got this tractor confused with a 7040. The owner of the 7040 called and it has the motor knock. So please disregard the comment about the motor knock.

i have 4 45-d,s.dont have any with a 3 bolt front axel piviot.looks to me like some one has lengthened the side rails.this is definitly not the correct nose cowl arrangement for a 45-d.also the rear axel wishbone does not appear to be standard, along with the rearfenders..some what of a cob house modification.as for price,it dep0ends on how bad some one wants a 45-d,being they was made only for 2 years.also the top end of the engine, the head and the block were many times a surprise, being spider web cracks in the top of the block.between cylinder webs were not a real problem.the heads can be a real can of worms also, cracks and more cracks.i have also had flat cam lobes on 2 of my cams...i meant to say the rear piviot point for the front axel (wishbone) does not appear to be kosher either.that is definitly a waymore tractor.....wants waymore than its worth...

The reason that the tractor has the front end extended is that the 3 bolt front bolster will not fit on a WD45 diesel because the back of the 4 bolt bolster casting has room for the diesel engine, where the 3 bolt does not, because the 3 bolt wide front predated the diesel installation, hense the reason for moving the casting forward. I hope this helps some on the mystery here.

JW and Rich, you nailed it on the head.  The rear pivot bracket is for a gas, so he had to move it forward to clear the oil pan. I never noticed that before JW mentioned it.
